The Traces Ecrites club brings together nearly 70 companies from Bourgogne Franche-Comté and Grand Est. Membership allows companies to support this independent media outlet while enjoying visibility among its readers thanks to numerous exclusive benefits.
Today: focus on STI. Specialising in wiring, electrical harness manufacturing, cabinet wiring and other electrical equipment, the SME is capitalising on its new premises in Genlis (Côte-d’Or) to respond more effectively to customer demands and prepare for international expansion. Denis Boulinier, its president, answers questions from Traces Écrites News.
Your new factory, inaugurated in early 2024 in Genlis (Côte-d’Or), is an ambitious project both industrially and ecologically. What has been the feedback from your employees, customers and partners since it opened?
This move marked a turning point for STI Genlis. Our new premises, designed to combine performance and environmental friendliness, immediately won over our customers. We invested £4.5 million in a 7,300 m² building, with over 30% of the funding coming from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region and the European Regional Development Fund. The installation of 786 solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system has enabled us to decarbonise our business.
Our customers, both existing and prospective, recognise our commitment to CSR and our capacity for innovation. Some have visited our premises and entrusted us with new projects on site. For example, players in the medical and aeronautics sectors, impressed by our optimised organisation, have approached us for specific developments. This is proof that our strategy is paying off.
As for our employees, we have paid particular attention to working conditions in our new premises, which are air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter, as well as benefiting from plenty of natural light thanks to the numerous bay windows and the skydome.
STI Genlis stands out thanks to its integrated design office and advanced automation. How do these strengths help you win new markets and build customer loyalty?
Our strength lies in our ability to industrialise tailor-made solutions quickly and with impeccable quality. With 45 employees, two-thirds of whom are women, we have strengthened our methodology, quality and design office teams over the last three years. This enables us to work closely with our customers from the design stage onwards in order to optimise costs and lead times.
For example, for a customer who manufactures machinery for high-tech industries, we developed a complex wiring system using our automated equipment. This allows us to prepare wiring sub-assemblies in series, reducing production times while ensuring consistent quality. Our customers appreciate this approach because it helps them focus on their core business while we manage the electrical complexity for them.
Our turnover, which stabilised at £5.5 million in 2025, reflects this dynamic. We are constantly recruiting – 4 to 5 people last year – and providing in-house training in response to growing demand. We are developing a skills development policy that offers some great examples, such as one of our employees, a former hairdresser who is now a cabling area manager.

With a rapidly changing market and sector diversification, what are your ambitions for the coming years?
We operate in rapidly growing sectors, with electrification and robotisation affecting all areas. Our priority is to consolidate our position in France, while preparing for international expansion. We already have customers with factories abroad, and we are analysing promising markets in order to expand our business there. We are only at the beginning of this process.
Finally, we are continuing to invest in automation and training in order to remain competitive. Our goal is clear: to become an essential partner for our customers by offering them turnkey solutions, from design to delivery.
